HOW TO WRITE A RESUME
You may have heard complaints from friends and family like, “I’ve applied to hundreds of jobs, but nobody ever calls me back.” Statements like this may surprise you since help wanted signs are everywhere, but often, the issue isn’t a lack of employment opportunities. You generally still need an impressive resume to score a position even when your area has plenty of job openings. After all, it’s unlikely you’ll be the only applicant, so you need something that sets you apart from other job hunters.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR A CAREER FAIR OR EVENT
JOB SEEKER INTRO:

Many local companies are interested in hiring our job seekers. This is your chance to connect with them virtually and explore the many wonderful career opportunities available to you.
PREPARATION FOR CAREER (JOB) FAIR:
Register in advance
Check your technology in advance to make sure everything works properly; for example, download Microsoft Teams and make sure your camera and microphone work
Have an updated copy of your resume ready to share
Be prepared to introduce yourself, discuss your background and the positions that interest you
Make sure you have a quiet place to participate
Dress as you would for an actual job interview
Relax, you’re going to do great!
HOW TO WORK A CAREER (JOB) FAIR:
You don’t have to visit every organization, only the ones that are a good fit for your skill set
Connect with the employers of interest to you by scheduling a one-on-one contact
SMILE and behave as naturally as possible
Inquire about available job opportunities
Give a short summary of your skill set and the job you hope to obtain
Answer the employer’s questions and have a couple of your own
Offer to send your resume to the employer and let them know you are interested in”X” position.
Ask what the next step in the process will be. Would it be possible to schedule an interview?
Smile and thank the employer for their time.
